The Empirical Finance and Accounting Professional + Research Masters degree prepares you for careers in insurance, banking, corporate finance, market finance and accounting, whether in financial institutions (banks or insurance companies), consulting or auditing firms, or in corporate financial management.
This program is also a stepping-stone toward a Doctoral degree leading to academic and research opportunities either in university based or public/private research organizations.
Student Profiles
Students possessing an M1 or M2 degree in management, economics, mathematics, science, or engineering, and second or third year students from Grandes Ecoles de commerce or engineering are invited to apply.Depending on the number of available openings, access to the Empirical Finance and Accounting specialized Masters degree is automatically conferred upon students having obtained all the necessary ECTS credits for their first year of Masters of Finance at the IAE of Grenoble.
The educational program
Our goal in offering this English language specialty is to provide students the opportunity to learn research techniques, in particular, those needed to master accounting and financial data. This knowledge will permit students to evolve and adapt to changes in the field and techniques employed in auditing, accounting and finance specialties.
After completing the core program, students specialize in Empirical Finance or in Financial accounting, audit and analysis.
Once decided, students opt either for a research trajectory (culminating in a Masters thesis), or a professional trajectory (culminating in an internship in a company, an auditing or consulting firm, or in a financial institution.

Partners
The Empirical Finance and Accounting specialized Masters degree (research in finance accounting and auditing) is affiliated with the Doctoral School of Management Sciences (EDSG), the Center for Applied Management Research CERAG and The European Institute for Financial Data (EUROFIDAI).
Masters students participate in research work led by professors, undertaken in partnership with various financial institutions like Euronext and the Caisse des Dépôts.
Thanks to these partnerships some students also benefit from assistance with their internships.

Skills
This Masters degree provides high-level instruction in English in complementary fields of study including market finance, corporate finance, banking, insurance, auditing and accounting.
It provides fundamentals and tools necessary for working in different areas like risk management, portfolio management, corporate decision making, evaluation of actives, auditing and accounting information.
This Masters program provides the opportunity for acquiring in depth tools needed for analysis, treatment and modelization of audit, accounting and finance data.
Internship
Students wishing to pursue careers in corporate finance, auditing or institutional finance are required to do an internship.
An internship is recommended for those desiring to write a thesis in the context of CIFRE funding (thesis written based on a professional experience).
The internship provides an opportunity to apply theories acquired via course work and to see how they compare to reality. Internships last a minimum of five months.
