The services offered by the IAE
The IAE puts at the disposal of students optional services and activities useful in terms of learning. Some of these services must be paid for.
Welcome to the start of the new year
A few days before the start of the new academic year, all students must attend the introductory day, where they will be presented with their training program and:
- practical information and counseling,
- several virtual or paper documents:
- Plan of the town and other plans
- Study handbook
- Exam guide
- Library guide
- IAE regulations
- Guide to IAE services
- Guide to options
On this day, the following events will also take place:
- Choosing the optional subjects (UE).
- Obtaining the personal login.
- Creating the photo directory of the student’s class.
- Creating groups for practical classes according to levels.
Welcoming foreign students
- Specific welcome day and evening.
This day will enable foreign students to socialize and become familiar with the place and administrative and teaching staff who will help them make their choices.
Who is concerned?
All foreign students who register in a French university for the first time and join the Grenoble IAE to do:
- a Master
or
- a university degree in DUMI International Management (in English).
What does it involve?
- Welcome days: reception and activities (workshops, conferences and lunch).
- Welcome kit (cards and practical documents).
- Administrative assistance for university registration, procedures to obtain the residence permit.
- Pedagogical assistance in small groups at the end of the semester to prepare the exams, apart from remedial lessons (in management, finance, accounting, marketing) and/or support in finding a training course.
- Activities and cultural outings (for ex. skiing, museum visits, integration weekends, visiting Lyon, Annecy …).
Services
Associations
All students can take part in the IAE’s associations by joining:
- The Student’s Union - BDE
- The Sports Department - BDS
- The Inter-Schools Humanitarian Mission - M.H.I.G.E.
- The Junior Enterprises
- The A.I.E.S.S.E.C
- The Cafeteria Management Association.
Within the IAE, all these associations have premises for students. The IAE supports them financially and materially in their activities and projects.
As soon as the new school year starts, these associations present their activities; taking part in them can enable students to obtain credits (see Study Guide for each training and associative project).
The ADIAE, the graduates’ association, manages a 17,000-graduate network with activities such as conferences, the publication of a directory and newsletter, local branches in Lyon, Paris, Annecy, its training course department, the organization of Employment Forums… During their studies, this link can help students get in touch with partner companies or help graduates stay in contact with other graduates and take advantage of the network.
Library
About 8,000 books, 450 magazines, computerized databases viewable via the Intranet are at the disposal of all students who can work in the library space (first floor, 70 places) or borrow a book with automated booking option (see Library Guide).
Career Space (additional optional service at 150 €)
The Career Space proposes:
- Individual coaching to analyze the positioning of professional projects with CV review and interview simulation in French and English, validation of choices…
- Workshops proposed by professionals to master the language, manage physical and psychological presence, public speaking, interviews ….
- The innovative Job’in live service that allows interview simulation.
IT and multimedia (additional optional service at 800 €)
Thanks to a personal login:
- Consultation within the IAE or from outside of the Intranet or “Etunet” Student Extranet, an internal information and dialogue network :
* timetable and location of classes.
* syllabus of all courses.
* additional documents put on line by the teaching staff.
* library document catalogue.
* list of all students together with their details.
* main events proposed (conferences, forums, trophies, associations…).
* any useful and practical data concerning life in the IAE
- Wifi access in the IAE.
- Self-service IT station (90 computers), notably during “night sessions”.
- Free document printing account (500 printings).
- Access to specific software.
- Permanent coaching assistance.
- Loan of IT and audiovisual equipment.
International
The IAE maintains a close network of relationships with partner universities in the following countries: Brazil, China, Russia, Indonesia, India, Morocco and has signed exchange agreements with the United States and Europe (Italy, Portugal, Spain, Ireland, Germany…)
At the beginning of the year, students will have to think about the possibility of going abroad for a one-semester or one-year training course or academic training. The project will be partly financed through the attribution of a regional or Conseil Général grant.
The IT/Multimedia, Library, Working Space services are open to students 3 nights per week until 10 p.m. with the presence of coaches and the person responsible for the premises.
Preparation for the TOEIC test (additional optional service at 100 €)
The TOEIC test is essential for any future manager who wants to be recruited by a company where English is compulsory. The IAE offers preparation (small groups / 15 h) to the students who wish to sit this test.
Training-course service – Employment Forums
The IAE puts at the disposal of students a Training Course & Employment Space in relation with the Enterprise Relationships Service and IAE Graduates’ Association which distributes the training course and job offers the IAE receives (170 per month). Moreover, the IAE offers access to the IAE Graduates’ Association (over 17,000 graduates) to its students.
The IAE regularly organizes Job Forums that enable students to meet managers and executives from companies and organizations.
IAE’s optional classes (*)
The IAE proposes to all its students, according to their timetable and Study Regulations, to validate credits by choosing (**):
Language class on Wednesday night
In addition to the English classes or classes in English planned in the training chosen by the students, the IAE offers the following possibilities:
- going on studying German, Italian and Spanish at intermediate or advanced level.
- support in English (reinforced English).
- initiation to Chinese and Brazilian Portuguese if the students wish to go to these countries for a training course or international study.
As soon an the year begins, students are asked to choose among these options with the help of our language teachers (see guide specific to Language II).
Courses in English
To speak English fluently:
- Company history course.
- Business marketing.
Entrepreneurship at the IAE
Workshops relative to each Master’s specialty, organized during the Enterprise Forums on the topic of Entrepreneurship.
Preparation for the Personalized Professional Project
Collective classes:
- to master the drawing-up of a CV and cover letter.
- to be efficient in looking for a placement and job.
- to discover useful networks.
Associative project
These projects enable students to concretely apply their theoretical knowledge (experience real working conditions, manage a team, lead negotiations) by valorizing their participation in IAE life.
The students who are members of the IAE’s associations can choose this option.
Team sports at the UPMF (Université Pierre-Mendès France)
Collective university activities are accessible to all IAE students.
